Realtime Imaging for Subsurface Flow and Fractures by Using EM Methods

Surface-deployed controlled-source electromagnetic (CSEM) technology enables non-disruptive real-time mapping of fluid flow and fractures extent in subsurface formations. Streaming potential and contrast enhancers improve resolution and increase the depth of investigation beyond what was previously possible.
Promising applications exist in unconventionals, P&A, & CCS monitoring. THere are also possible applications in enhanced/fractured geothermal systems (EGS). Patent protected.
There are interested customers from a large market opportunity in hydraulic fracturing diagnostics/monitoring to improve resource recovery. AEC is conducting research to further enhance the technology.
In some applications like hydraulic fracturing, AEC estimates 4x+ ROI for the Operator in, even if marginally, increased production.
