High Temperature Batteries for Extreme Environments

AEC is working on developing AA-sized rechargeable lithium-ion batteries that maintain high energy density and low self-discharge at 100°C and beyond. Using advanced materials like NMC cathodes and exploring anode-free designs, this technology enables reliable, long-term operation in harsh conditions, filling a critical gap in energy and environmental applications.

Some key benefits include:

  • Longer Life: Low self-discharge means the batteries last longer in the field with fewer replacements.
  • Easy to Integrate: AA-size format fits standard tools and enclosures.
  • Works in Harsh Conditions: Built to perform reliably at temperatures of 100°C and higher.
  • A variant with Nickel- and Cobalt- free anodes (reduced costs and dependence on critical metals)
